When temperatures rise, so does the risk of heat stress, which is when the body gets hotter than its systems and organs can safely handle. While no one can control how hot it gets outside, there are things that you can do to lessen the heat’s impact both inside and outside. So, in July 2024, it created the Indoor Heat Illness Prevention Standard as a companion regulation to the outdoor standard.
This program examines how the body's cooling system works, the symptoms of different types of heat-related illnesses, and how to treat them, as well as how to work in the heat safely while complying with California's Indoor and Outdoor Heat Illness Prevention Standards.
