Beginning Pediatric Nursing: Neonates, Infants And Toddlers
Related Categories
Pediatrics is one branch of medicine that demands a focus beyond the individual patient and immediate health problems to take into account the developmental stages of children over time, the child's position within a family, the unique cultural characteristics of the family, and the techniques of assessing and providing care in ways that minimize the trauma and distress to children who often do not fully understand what is happening. With the focus on neonates, infants, and toddlers this program discusses the characteristics of these early developmental stages, including the physiological differences and some of their characteristics and considers ways of working with the entire family and dealing with psychosocial and cultural differences. Methods of non-traumatic physical assessment and care techniques for these early developmental stages are also discussed.
